Career Decisions the exclusive Outplacement provider for Michelin NI Hosts NI Polymers Association Members Event at Michelin Plant, Ballymena, Co Antrim to Showcase Michelin Workforce Skills

On Wednesday 28th September 2016 members of Northern Ireland Polymers Association from across the region were given the opportunity to find out about the skills of Michelin employees as part of an ongoing process of employer engagement.

18 company representatives attended the event, which was coordinated by Career Decisions Ireland (CDI) - the organisation contracted to provide coaching for Michelin Ballymena employees as they look for alternative employment.

The employers were given a factory tour, followed by a presentation from the Plant Manager, John Milsted, who highlighted the wide variety of transferable skills possessed by the employees.

Some of the NIPA membership who attended included representation from Brett Martin, Camden Group, Canyon Europe, IPC and Radius Systems

Kathy Simpson, Factory Personnel Manager at Michelin, said: “It’s vitally important that companies are aware of the level of expertise our employees possess and how the level of training over the years has developed our workforce to take on more responsibility than may be specified in their job description.

“It is hoped that following this event, employers will have a greater awareness and understanding of the level of skills available within the Michelin workforce and will bear this in mind for any future recruitment opportunities in this and other areas.”

"The Northern Ireland Polymers Association (NIPA) appreciates this rare and privileged opportunity to witness first-hand the Michelin (Ballymena) facility in operation. The site tour and the skills focused discussions with Senior Management will help the attending NIPA Members' gain an improved understanding on the range and depth of staff skills and expertise that has enabled Michelin (Ballymena) to operate, manage and supply products into the highly demanding, challenging, and relentlessly competitive global automotive markets for the better part of 50-years." Michael Smith – Chief Executive – NI Polymers Association
